Ok, maybe it’s because I am a straight female, but I must say, this debate has always confused me… both are A+.

Personally I don’t think circumcision should be just performed without the consent of the individual (ie before 16) however you know, after the age of consent, whatever BRAHS. I think that given the risks involved, as a doctor, I think without a sound medical reason it is a recipe for (inevitable) disaster in a reasonable majority of non-consenting childrens. Just look at the kids who’ve had to endure sex change or reparative surgery or similar after complications of circumcision. I do also think that all circumcisions should be performed by trained paediatric surgeons and not by non medical staff…

Kate and Chrissy are going to be down from Canberra next week (and staying with me!), so we were thinking of having a little gathering on Thursday night, the 12th (unfortunately they leave Friday). Actually, Tash and Thao and I were thinking this. I haven’t run it by Kate or Chrissy yet, but I’m sure they are into it. And even if they’re not, they’re staying at my place so they’ll do what I tell them. Anyway, a bar in the city will be the most likely venue. Thinking Sister Bella at this stage, but anyone got any better ideas feel free to express them. Maybe somewhere at little less difficult to find for those who don’t know it?

This doesn’t need to be some official Tumblr-sponsored event or anything, just thought with Kate and Chrissy down it would be a good opportunity to meet-up since there are a few of us who will be hanging out.
